Picton Bros Panelspan began in 1992 when Les and Michael Picton turned decades of industry experience into a bold new direction for regional NSW. Les had spent years in home improvement, building a deep understanding of high-quality structures and durable materials. With this foundation, they set out to raise the standard for outdoor living, crafting spaces that were cooler in summer, tougher in storms, and more rewarding to spend time in.
From family barbecues beneath a ceiling fan to peaceful mornings in sun-filled glass enclosures, they redefined backyards as places of true leisure and connection. Starting with a single machine in Dubbo, they built insulated patios, custom decks, and long-lasting carports that soon became familiar across the Central West.
Today, second-generation director Ben Picton leads the business forward. With hands-on knowledge and a modern design mindset, Ben ensures each structure not only enhances outdoor living but stays true to the values his family built the company on.
We’re proud to still manufacture locally in Dubbo, with every structure built to order and supplied through our regional showrooms. Ben has dedicated his entire career to Picton Bros, with over 25 years of hands-on experience across various roles. Starting as an apprentice glazier in the company’s window factory, he transitioned into the shutters and privacy screen department, later managing the manufacturing factory. His journey through the sales team ultimately led him to his current role as CEO, where his in-depth knowledge and leadership continue to drive the company forward.
A firm believer in showing up and giving your best every day, Ben’s favourite quote is, “Wake up, get up, dress up and show up.” This mindset reflects his commitment to both personal growth and professional excellence. Outside of work, Ben is an outdoor enthusiast who loves fishing and camping with his family, embracing the simplicity and adventure of nature.
Born on 18th March, Ben shares his birthday with the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932, a symbol of strength, connection, and Australian ingenuity, much like the solid foundation he’s built throughout his career at Picton Bros.
With over 35 years of experience in construction, landscaping, and mining, John Picton brings a wealth of knowledge and hands-on expertise to his role as Factory Manager at Picton Bros. A qualified carpenter, joiner, and certified building supervisor, John has managed projects across industries, leading teams with confidence and precision.
Known for his practical approach, John’s favourite quote is, “If the grass is greener on the other side, it’s probably a septic leak,” which reflects his sharp sense of humour.
Outside of work, John enjoys spending weekends gardening and farming; his happy place. He’s also a keen footy fan and loves fishing when time allows.
